Scene hair and look

This post is being written due to some arguments going on at some forums where guys were trying to trash everything related to scene.
I think I can some up my thoughts with these five words; uniqueness, expression, passion, creativity and imagination. Now for sure some people prefer a traditional look and that suits them, but that is no reason for others to be different.
I for one don’t care that having a scene look is gaining popularity and that some people are saying it has lost its meaning.
When I walk down the street, or hang out with my mates my style is important as it is a projection of my personality.
I am accepting, I love a certain type of music and I love having fun. I also think it is more than just about ‘emo hair‘ or clothes and it is really about having fun.
Everyone has their own reasons, show why not let us know about yours?

Very interesting read and very personal. I agree with you and think that being emo is a title we can personally choose for ourselves and we shouldn’t be influenced by other people. I personally get into it through music and going to concerts

I never really considered myself an emo, since most of my friends are kind of goodygoodies… but lately i’ve kinda noticed i’ve never really fit in there… i’ve always dressed differently, i love piercing myself (6 on each ear, lip, nose, eyebrow, tongue) and i guess it kinda freaks people out…. but that’s how i like to express muself… and i honestly don’t care.

i completely agree. being emo isn’t just a fashion statement - it’s an emotion - a self proclaiming state of mind. nothing more, nothing less. we all have fun exposing who we are, and we all love being watched. sometimes, we even relish in the idea of being called ‘emo’, just for the fact that thos who name us, have no idea. no idea…. i am proud to be part of the scene, and be an emo kid! and more power to those of you who are still having trouble expressing YOUR emo side - let it go, and rock to your hearts content.

You know, it’s only a stereotype, this thing doesn’t realy matter. This stereotype gets as much attention as others do; if you wanna be “emo”, you’re a poser.. same goes with all friggen people who wana fall under an effing stereotype.. The only real ones were the ones following it, unaware that they run under a stereotype.. or they were born like that.. it’s runni’ through their veins into their black, broken hearts.. I respect people’s opintions, though. You must’ve mistaken this for “scene”. A lot better ;]
Fuck you “don’t get it”. We DONT dress the same We DONT have the same hair We all have DIFFERENT reasons to b emo. Also, to be emo, you don’t need to wear big black hoodies or have black hair that covers your face, you don’t need to cut yourself you just need to be overly depressed and deal with it by acting out. We only dress like that bcuz we are acting out and letting ppl no that we are emo, and we don’t give a fuck about what u ppl think.

im emo, but i dun rly look it. a bit long hair, not a lotta tight jeans, only one thats a bit, no eye liner, etc etc.
i think it mainly resides in the emotion and music, as thats where it started from.
