The emo term actually originates from the 1980s where there were lots of emo girls and emo guys with emo hair. However, those emo hairstyles were quite different from the ones you see nowadays!
The variety of emo hairstyles available at the hair stylist or to experiment with on your own are close to endless! The best way to decide on an emo hair style is to look through a large number of photos and decide which one you like most. And when you decided, choose two more and apply those to your hair!
My tips to your are to be always open to emotions and change! Change, in most cases is good and emo people are usually one of the first to experience it as they don’t go with the crowd.

the standard is usually dyed black, straightened, and covered over eyes in the combed to one side way, AMIRITE? my hair rite now doesnt rly look like that. its black, natuarly, mostly straight, but not combed or covering my eyes totaly. does thatcount looking emo?

Well, I’m allowed to dress like an EMO, well cuz my parents dun even know what that means, anyhoo, every1 keeps asking me why I wear black so much !!! It’s annoying, they insist that I’m too young for that !!I can’t cut my hair like an EMO though, no1 here is used to that, and not allowed to dye my hair black either !! but I really act like an EMO and every1 knows that !! Is that what makes me 1 ??

i have black hair, my natural hair color is brown though.
i’m half asian, half white, idk what that has to do with this but whatever.
i always tease my hair at the roots, and use a lot of hairspray.

I think emo hair can range to quite a few diff. styles. The most common m used to are the ones w/ the long bangs covering one side of the face and is a few inches below the face on each side and is short and spikey in the back. Alot of my friends seem to like that style. But I mostly see it for my guy friends. For the girls I see alot of long hair covering one side of the face w/ it split w/ the bangs going one toward the face and the hair being teased in the back. To where it sticks straight up which is my style. Along w/ many diff. colors mostly black w/ bleached blondes but some depend the colors can be way out there and some like to keep it simple depending. But Punk hairstyles can go into the same catagory. W/ it just being layered and to the shoulders and straight. I do believe that straight is a major factor of having scene hair though. But it’s mostly long somewhere w/ it going in the face. That is what I believe either way it’s you! Make your hair something that you want and expresses your indivduality! <3

Im going to get an scene haircut but i have a problem on findingg pictures that show like the hairstyle but like the back view of it to on the picture so they see how the back of the hair is cuz i dont think the people at the hairdresser will understand and im gonna go to a professional one that my mom goes to but i think that they wont like the hairstylee at then they’re gonna be like ” oh why dont we just make it sumthing else this one isnt nice ” cuz they did that to me beforee , and i also got my haircut a long time ago at a regular hair salon and they f***ed up my hair sooo badly
